About The Position

Cameo Consulting Group is seeking a highly experienced Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Field Office (HFO) on the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Project (WTP). This critical role will serve as an HFO Field Engineer, providing oversight, technical analysis, and assessment of contractor engineering activities for the Low-Activity Waste (LAW), Balance of Facility (BOF), and Analytical Laboratory (LAB) systems. This position is part of a key proposal effort for a Time & Materials BPA Call. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, federal oversight experience, and a proven ability to resolve complex engineering challenges on major capital projects.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Engineering, Science, or a technical discipline. (Note: 6 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in contractor oversight and engineering programs on a capital project similar to WTP.
  • Demonstrated experience with WTP engineering requirements for mechanical, chemical (ammonia), and ventilation structures, systems, and component operations.
  • Experience researching and navigating complex federal regulations to determine requirements for contractor performance on a capital project.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Must sign a Non-Disclosure/Conflict of Interest form prior to start.
  • Must identify any conflicts, potential conflicts, or perceived conflicts of interest with any Hanford Site contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Field Engineering Oversight: Act as the HFO Field Engineer for LAW, BOF, and LAB systems, conducting in-field oversight and assessments no less than twice per week.
  • Technical Analysis & Resolution: Conduct in-depth analysis of technical engineering issues, requirements, and development efforts. Resolve major conflicts, unique issues, and engineering uncertainties related to mechanical, chemical (ammonia), and ventilation structures, systems, and components (SSCs).
  • Monitor Contractor Performance: Track and report on contractor work processes, successes, and obstacles. Provide timely and accurate input to WTP Engineering Division (WED), AMWTP, and HFO Management.
  • Subject Matter Debriefs: Debrief other engineers, staff, and management on unusual, difficult, or controversial technical matters. Provide opinions and recommendations for planning, organizing, and implementing engineering projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Research and navigate complex federal regulations to determine requirements for contractor performance attributes.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare oversight reports, weekly status reports, and monthly progress reports. Ensure all work products are thorough, accurate, and comply with established criteria.
