Requirements

  • JD required. Required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Must be an active member of the Utah Bar.
  • Knowledge of the topic and significant teaching experience.
  • Attach updated curriculum vitae, cover letter, and Mission Alignment Statement to the faculty application.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a course on Business Strategy for Lawyers: This course presents the fundamentals of business strategy to a legal audience. It is designed to provide law students with fluency in the language and topics of business management, while also emphasizing ethics, leadership and personal morality. The course covers key strategic concepts (including competitive advantage, industry analysis and business models) as well as a variety of other strategy frameworks and methodologies. The topics in this course have relevance to anyone seeking to enter a corporate practice, meaningfully advise business clients, strategically manage a law firm, pivot to engage in some kind of entrepreneurial venture, or perhaps even lead a large company.
  • The adjunct faculty member will not be asked to attend department meetings.
  • She or he will be expected to spend some time outside of class to address questions related to the class.
  • Time taught to be determined by the applicant's schedule.
