About The Position
The Laundry Tech works in Environmental Services at The Chesapeake in Newport News, Virginia, supporting residents through laundry and linen services. The role involves processing soiled linens, washing and drying laundry, and distributing clean linens while maintaining laundry and linen storage areas. The position is full-time on the day shift, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Requirements
- Be capable of standing and walking throughout the workday.
- Be willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks and able to regulate and maintain workflow.
- Exhibit a pleasant personality and patience when interacting with residents, guests, and team members.
- Be able to read, write, communicate, and comprehend English.
Responsibilities
- Control water temperature, amounts of soap solution, and other chemicals to clean laundry without damaging equipment or linens.
- Extract and dry washed linens.
- Collect soiled linens, and fold, sort, and distribute clean laundry.
- Mark linens for proper identification.
- Maintain a clean and orderly laundry room and linen storage areas.
- Report equipment malfunctions to the Director of Facility Services or management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
