About The Position

The Laundry Staff Lead is responsible for overseeing laundry and linen operations within a federally contracted ICE residential facility. This position supervises laundry staff, coordinates the laundering and distribution of clothing, linens, bedding, and towels, maintains inventory levels, and ensures compliance with infection control, safety, and sanitation standards. The Laundry Staff Lead serves as a working lead, performing hands-on laundry duties while supporting efficient daily operations and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in laundry services, housekeeping, environmental services, or a related support role.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience
  • Ability to supervise staff, coordinate workflows, and maintain accountability for daily operations
  • Ability to safely operate commercial laundry equipment.
  • Knowledge of laundering techniques, sanitation practices, and safe handling of cleaning products and contaminated materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required background checks, clearances, and credentials
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is required.
  • Employees must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
  • Must show proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, residential, institutional, hospitality, government, or other regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with infection control practices, bloodborne pathogen protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Experience managing linen, clothing, or supply inventories.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety standards and environmental sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform the collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distribution of clothing, linens, bedding, towels, and other assigned materials.
  • Ensure timely processing and return of resident clothing and facility-issued items.
  • Inspect laundered items for cleanliness, damage, and wear; remove, replace, or report items as needed.
  • Operate commercial laundry equipment safely and efficiently and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Follow established laundering procedures, including proper water temperatures, detergent usage, sanitation practices, and handling of contaminated materials.
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of clean linens and clothing to prevent contamination or damage.
  • Provide day-to-day oversight and support for laundry staff.
  • Assign work, monitor performance, and ensure completion of daily laundry operations.
  • Train staff on laundering procedures, equipment operation, infection control practices, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate laundry collection, distribution, and inventory activities with facility staff.
  • Communicate operational updates, supply needs, and outstanding issues to supervisors and team members.
  • Maintain inventories of linens, bedding, towels, clothing, laundry supplies, and related materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels and submit requests for replenishment as needed.
  • Ensure distributed items are clean, serviceable, and meet organizational standards.
  • Track and maintain records related to laundry operations, inventory usage, and supply levels.
  • Maintain laundry areas in clean, organized, and sanitary conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with infection prevention, environmental sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Properly use and enforce the use of PPE and safe handling procedures for chemicals and potentially contaminated materials.
  • Handle soiled or biohazardous materials in accordance with bloodborne pathogen protocols and established infection control procedures.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, equipment issues, maintenance concerns, or unusual items discovered during laundry processing.
  • Complete and review required logs, inventory records, inspection reports, and operational documentation.
  • Support compliance with applicable health, safety, sanitation, and security requirements.
  • Follow organizational policies related to confidentiality, employee conduct, and facility security.
  • Participate in required training and maintain compliance with all workplace requirements.
