About The Position

The Laundry Maintenance Technician is responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, laundry equipment, and other physical features of the laundry facility while maintaining a safe and friendly environment. The role also includes general maintenance and cleaning of the laundry, facility, and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• At least one year of experience as a Preventative Maintenance Technician or in a similar skilled trade.
• Proficient mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools and mechanical aptitude.
• Strong knowledge of pumps, electric motors, electrical circuits, mechanical drive systems, gas- and steam-operated systems, and belt-drive equipment.
• Meet the requirements to receive a company driving permit.
• Ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned service calls efficiently, accurately, and courteously, contacting the laundry attendant within five minutes of a request.
• Complete all assigned work orders daily.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts when reported or noticed.
• Maintain boilers and pumps daily.
• Clean the surrounding area after completing maintenance.
• Complete a daily Engineering report accurately.
• Replace air filters on AC units regularly.
• Perform preventive maintenance on laundry equipment according to the standard checklist or as requested by the Director of Laundry, and maintain maintenance records.
• Repair and maintain laundry carts.
• Operate small hand tools, including drills, grinders, and saws.
• Use required safety equipment, such as goggles, aprons, gloves, respirators, or dust masks.
• Safely operate machinery, including drills, grinders, a Sawzall, welding machine, and band saw.
• Develop additional skills to keep equipment in good repair.
• Apply basic electricity, plumbing, and carpentry knowledge to repair laundry equipment.
• Handle test equipment and hand tools accurately and efficiently.
• Drive the laundry truck when needed.
