Laundry/Housekeeping - Full Time
About The Position
The Laundry/Housekeeper performs general laundry and housekeeping duties to provide quality laundry service and help maintain the nursing home in a sanitary condition, free from offensive odors. The role ensures clean, serviceable linens and clothing are available for residents and uses laundry equipment and supplies safely. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. The job requires a GED or high school diploma. One year of experience is preferred, but not required. No certifications are required. The employee must be able to read and understand laundry and housekeeping directions, perform basic math, and problem-solve or seek assistance when needed. The work environment is usually low to moderate in noise. The employee may occasionally need to lift or move up to 50 pounds and regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear, with frequent use of industrial washers, dryers, and related equipment.
Requirements

- Ability to read and understand directions related to laundry and housekeeping procedures.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and seek assistance when needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear, and frequently use industrial washers, dryers, and related laundry/housekeeping equipment.

Responsibilities
- Make clean linen available in sufficient quantities to support residents’ care and comfort.
- Maintain linen in good repair and remove items with holes or stains from service.
- Collect residents’ laundry daily or as needed.
- Label new residents’ clothing items as needed.
- Sort, treat, wash, dry, and fold clothing and linens.
- Deliver clean laundry items to residents’ rooms.
- Follow sanitary processes and procedures related to laundry duties.
- Maintain an inventory of laundry supplies.
- Use laundry equipment and supplies safely.
- Report laundry equipment issues to the Administrator.
