About The Position

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for ensuring that linens are washed, dried, ironed, folded, and stored correctly on a daily basis. This role also involves maintaining the cleanliness and good working order of the laundry area and its equipment. The position may require handling materials with potential blood contamination, necessitating knowledge of OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standards and adherence to proper procedures. The ability to understand English is required, and bilingualism is a plus. This role requires availability to work every day of the year, as the hotel operates continuously. The Laundry Attendant reports to the Head Housekeeper.

  • Must work a flexible schedule.
  • Capable of performing tasks that require repetitive motions.

  • Must be able to stand for eight (8) hour periods.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry 50 pounds from the ground to above head level.
  • Must be able to handle heavy loads without assistance.
  • Must be qualified to operate various kinds and types of laundry equipment safely and properly.
  • Must work with various cleaning chemicals and solutions.
  • Must wear the proper uniform with nametag.

Responsibilities

  • Keep linens washed, dried, ironed, folded, and stored in designated areas.
  • Keep the laundry area and equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Handle tasks involving exposure to visible or anticipated blood contamination, following OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standards.
  • Ensure total guest satisfaction by following the Head Housekeeper’s requests.
  • Perform routine duties including washing, drying, folding, and sorting linen and terry, and treating stained linen.
  • Maintain linen supply levels appropriate for the hotel’s occupancy level.
  • Maintain proper laundry chemical levels and report needed supplies to the supervisor.
  • Report potential safety hazards, repairs, and equipment problems immediately to the supervisor.
  • Clean equipment and the laundry area daily, including end-of-shift cleaning.
  • Comply with EPA and OSHA regulations and other safety policies when working with cleaning chemicals.
  • Follow all clean linen procedures, including drying, ironing, folding, and storing laundry.
  • Operate various types of laundry equipment safely and properly.
  • Consistently report to work on time in the proper uniform with a nametag.
  • Represent the hotel in a positive manner.
  • Communicate effectively with Front Desk and Maintenance as needed.
  • Perform special projects to maintain maximum service.
  • Change bed linens and shower curtains as assigned.
  • Provide support to the Houseman.
  • Collect soiled linen from Room Attendant carts.
  • Assist with making beds, sanitizing coffee makers, or cleaning rooms as assigned.
  • Clean and restock linen rooms.
  • Help complete monthly inventory.
  • Acknowledge all guests with a smile.
