About The Position
Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a dedicated and service-focused hospitality leader to join the opening team of the new Grand Gardner Hotel as Laundry Attendant. The Grand Gardner Hotel is an Urschel Development property located in Downtown Valparaiso, IN. Urschel Development is a fully owned subsidiary of Urschel Laboratories located in Chesterton, Indiana. Opening in the second quarter of 2026, this independent boutique hotel is located on a quiet, tree-lined street just steps away from downtown Valparaiso. Designed to feel welcoming to both guests and employees, it features 58 rooms and suites, a speakeasy, banquets space, boutique spa, and inviting shared spaces. This is a place built on teamwork, hands-on training, and growth. Employees are encouraged to learn, share ideas, and take pride in creating great guest experiences, all while being part of a supportive, close-knit team. The Laundry Attendant is essential to the hotel’s daily operations, ensuring that all guest rooms and public spaces are supplied with pristine linens and terry. Responsibilities include the sorting, washing, drying, and precise folding of linens, as well as the operation of industrial laundry equipment and chemical dispensing systems. This role also involves identifying maintenance issues, managing lost and found procedures, and maintaining a strict linen recovery program. While primarily based in the laundry room, the attendant also upholds guest service standards by maintaining a professional presence in hallways and guest areas. The ideal candidate is a hardworking, detail-oriented individual who takes pride in the "behind-the-scenes" excellence that defines a luxury hotel stay. Physical requirements include the ability to lift heavy laundry bags, push loaded carts, and stand or walk for the duration of a shift. Knowledge of bloodborne pathogen safety and proper chemical usage is required. The candidate should be able to follow specific folding and storage standards and work efficiently to meet the high-volume demands of a 58-room boutique property.
