Laundry Attendant ("Asistente de Lavandaria")
About The Position
Perform all stages of linen processing, including, but not limited to, collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading, and unloading (washers, dryers and chutes), ironing, folding, storing and delivering. This role also involves inspecting linens to remove ripped or soiled items, washing and drying linens, rags, etc., cleaning dryer filters, maintaining equipment, operating an iron, folding and stocking linens, sweeping and mopping laundry floors, sorting dried articles, and ensuring work areas are clean and organized. Additionally, the Laundry Attendant may assist with guest inquiries, follow safety and security policies, report maintenance issues, and perform other reasonable job duties as assigned. Supportive functions may include assisting Housekeeping in cleaning guest rooms and public areas as needed.
Requirements
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have excellent customer relations skills.
- Must be detail oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Must possess basic computational ability.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy and collect accurate information to resolve conflicts.
- Self-driven and able to work independently.
- Must be knowledgeable of safe use of cleaning products and operation of laundry equipment.
- High school or equivalent education required.
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards.
- Fully comply with Azul Hospitality rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotels facilities.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in laundry department preferred.
- Experience using industrial washing, drying, ironing equipment preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform all stages of linen processing, including collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading, and unloading washers, dryers, and chutes.
- Iron, fold, store, and deliver linens.
- Inspect linens to remove ripped or soiled items.
- Wash and dry all dirty linens, towels, rags, etc.
- Clean dryer filter daily and maintain all equipment as trained.
- Operate iron as per hotel standards.
- Fold linens/towels and stock linen carts as required.
- Sweep and mop laundry floors, storing all linens off the floor.
- Sort dried articles according to identification number or type.
- Fold and place items in appropriate storage bins.
- Execute all work processes safely and observe all safety procedures.
- Operate machinery always in keeping with safety requirements.
- Clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
- Perform all preventative maintenance required or contact supervisor and/or maintenance department.
- Mend torn articles as needed.
- Deliver and stock terry and linen in all linen closets, housekeeping carts, Fitness Center, and Pool.
- Ensure work areas are left clean and organized.
- Assist Housekeeping in the cleaning of Guest Rooms and Public Areas as needed.
- Assist with any guest inquiry.
- Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
- Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by direct and indirect Supervisors.
