About The Position

Redfield Community Memorial Hospital and Clinic is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Laundry Attendant. This role involves operating and performing routine maintenance on washing and drying equipment, gathering soiled linens, and distributing clean linens. The attendant will also be responsible for weighing, washing, drying, and folding linens, ordering and maintaining linen supplies, and performing minor sewing and patching. Maintaining a clean and safe laundry area, adhering to confidentiality and HIPAA requirements, and following all policies and procedures are crucial. The position requires self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to infection control. The attendant must be able to perform all necessary tasks in the laundry department, even those that may be unpleasant, and attend required meetings and training.

Requirements

• Self-motivated, able to work alone most days
• Follow and comply with policies and procedures
• Spend time standing during folding linens and other operations
• Perform minor maintenance such as cleaning lint traps
• Attend staff meetings, in-service’s, and training as required
• Understand sepsis and techniques to avoid infection of patients and self
• Patience and tact with patients, families, and fellow employees
• Complete the tasks necessary in laundry even though some may be unpleasant
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be able to bend and twist as necessary for loading machines and folding
• Work with some contaminated linens and must use proper procedures to avoid infecting or contaminating self, others, or equipment

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform routine maintenance on washing and drying equipment
• Gather soiled linens and distribute clean linens to appropriate closets
• Weigh, wash, dry, and fold both contaminated and normal linens
• Order and maintain sufficient supply of linens
• Perform minor sewing and patching as necessary
• Maintain laundry area in a clean and safe manner
• Maintain confidentiality, HIPAA requirements, and policy and procedures
• Perform other duties as required to operate a safe, efficient laundry department
