The Laundry Attendant is responsible for various tasks related to the processing of laundry, ensuring cleanliness and organization of linens and the laundry area. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to providing excellent service.

Requirements

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • A minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated good communication skills.

  • Ability to bend into carts to retrieve items.
  • Ability to pull laundry that sometimes tangles/wads from carts and machines.
  • Ability to work in warm temperatures.
  • Ability to handle sheets/towels without allergic reactions to cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to push/pull full laundry carts around the laundry floor (on wheels).

Nice To Haves

  • Hospitality experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive dirty laundry in carts and load washing machines with materials, keeping items separate and organized by type (whites/colors, sheets/towels) and building of origin.
  • Program washing machines by selecting the correct cycle for the desired outcome.
  • Unload wet towels, sheets, and linens from machines into carts.
  • Push carts to dryers and load dryers.
  • Unload dryers and take laundry to folding tables.
  • Fold items neatly and organize sheets, towels, and linens by type, preparing them for delivery.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, including wearing a clean, pressed uniform and practicing good hygiene.
  • Check inventories of chemicals and communicate with the supervisor when ordering is necessary.
  • Keep the laundry area clean, dusted, and mopped.
  • Clean lint traps daily.
  • Answer calls and inquiries from hotel locations on campus.
  • Scrub, disinfect, and deodorize all laundry carts daily.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately.
  • Immediately report any damaged, non-properly functioning, or unsafe machinery or working conditions to the supervisor and/or Director.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.
