Requirements

  • Able to read labels in English for laundry chemicals.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills.
  • Multi task-oriented.
  • Practical and organized in a small work area.
  • Ability to overcome unexpected obstacles through resourceful means.
  • Neat, professional appearance and good personal hygiene.
  • Able to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
  • Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
  • Ability to communicate with guests, associates, and management.
  • Ability to take direction from hotel and housekeeping management.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, follow-through courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous housekeeping/laundry experience preferred, but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Washing, drying, and folding linen, as well as treating stains.
  • Taking requests for items that may need to be processed during the day.
  • Keeping communication flowing between other housemen, supervisors, and management to ensure all needs are being met for the hotel.
  • Completing any task assigned and duties as an employee are not limited to this job summary.
  • Washing and drying all linen, towels, rags, and Banquet linens.
  • Pressing sheets, pillowcases, napkins, and Banquet table linens.
  • Identifying and treating stains for linens and towels where the stains did not come out the first time.
  • Folding all the clean laundry.
  • Occasionally working late to bring in new linens and towels into inventory.
  • Stocking shelves and houseman carts with clean folded linen and towels.
  • Constant communication with housemen, housekeeping supervisors, laundry supervisor, housekeeping management and Food & Beverage management when certain items requested are ready.
  • Ensuring overall cleanliness in the laundry department.
  • Taking care of laundry equipment by immediately reporting maintenance issues to management and the Engineering staff.
  • Ensuring chemicals are used as directed by OSHA regulations and Company standards.
  • Reporting any safety issues to management immediately.
  • Ensuring the proper washing codes as posted in the laundry department are entered in properly into the washing machines for the correct items being washed.
  • Ensuring the proper drying times for Hot & Cold as posted above each machine are entered in properly into the drying machines for the correct items being dried.
  • Ensuring all items are sorted accordingly.
  • Ensuring no dirty linen is set aside to be placed on the floors after being washed.
  • Ensuring only clean linen free of stains should be sent upstairs for the guest rooms.
