About The Position

Aerodyne Industries is seeking a Launch System Software Engineer to support the COMET contract at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. This role involves providing operations support for complex Command and Control systems, systems administration and configuration control, and interfacing with the Space Launch System Test Team during spacecraft processing and launch countdown. The engineer will also provide operations and systems administration for products supporting engineers processing Ground and Flight equipment for the Space Launch System. This position requires a strong background in Linux, the ability to follow complex procedures, attention to detail, and the capacity to work in a high-stress launch countdown environment. Travel to other NASA centers may be required, and the ability to interpret and execute Firing Room Launch Commit Criteria is essential. This position requires shift and weekend work.

Requirements

  • Non-trivial experience with advisory systems.
  • Strong background in Linux is required.
  • Must be able to follow complex procedures and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a high stress "launch countdown" environment.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution required.
  • Experience in the Linux Operating System
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.).
  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Operations support for complex Command and Control systems.
  • Provide set systems administration and configuration control of released products from the design/development organization.
  • Launch Control System interface with the Space Launch System Test Team during spacecraft processing and launch countdown.
  • Provide Operations and Systems Administration of products in support of Engineers processing Ground and Flight equipment in support of the Space Launch System.
  • Interpret and execute Firing Room Launch Commit Criteria.
