About The Position

St. Charles Preparatory School is seeking a proactive and principled individual to serve as a Latin Teacher starting the 2026-27 school year. The role involves assisting students in mastering Latin language skills and curriculum content, while also fostering their growth in faith and responsibility within a Catholic educational environment. The teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering effective instruction, utilizing varied assessments, and creating a Christ-centered learning environment. Collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators is also a key aspect of the position, as is a commitment to professional and spiritual growth.

Requirements

  • Ohio Education Teaching License, certification grades 7-12
  • Required: Compliance with BCI-background checks and completion of Virtus Protecting God's Children training

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Previous experience working in the educational setting desired
  • Experience with Power School or similar SIS desired
  • Experience with Canvas or similar SMS desired
  • Classroom experience and experience with secondary school students preferred
  • Knowledge of world history sufficient to place literacy works in context
  • Experience in use of collaborative learning models preferred
  • Catholic Preferred but Not Required

Responsibilities

  • Strong foundation in English grammar and usage
  • Broad English Vocabulary
  • Proficient in the Latin language
  • Extensive experience in reading Latin
  • Previous classroom experience necessary
  • Experience with Power School or similar SIS desired
  • Experience with Canvas or similar SMS desired
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining an accelerated pace
  • Experience in constructing summative assessments
  • Prepared to carry out daily grading and provide timely feedback
  • Capable of following a lead teacher
  • Classroom experience and experience with secondary school students preferred
  • Knowledge of world history sufficient to place literacy works in context
  • Experience in use of collaborative learning models preferred
  • Assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum
  • Help students grow in faith and responsibility
  • Integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture
  • Understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting diversity
  • Know and understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility
  • Understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning
  • Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student
  • Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students
  • Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators and the faith community to support student development, learning and faith
  • Assume responsibility for their professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement as an individual and as a member of a Catholic learning community
