About The Position

The Lathe Operator in the Shaft Department is responsible for turning bar stock into a completed shaft. This work is performed under minimal supervision and attention to order details is required.

Requirements

  • Ability to use a computer with clear instructions and procedures.
  • 2 or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Basic mathematic calculation of multiplication and division are a must.
  • Ability to read and interpret air gages.
  • Ability to read and interpret micrometers.
  • Ability to read and understand shaft prints.
  • Effectively communicate and work in a team environment and with all levels of management.
  • Above average attendance record.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills required.
  • Ability to multitask while being complete and thorough in following documented procedures.
  • Ability to escalate production and downtime issues to get them resolved in a timely fashion.
  • Ability & willingness to adapt to change and exhibit a desire to improve every day.
  • Must be able to manipulate large motors on a regular basis.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 20-35 pounds frequently and 26-50 pounds occasionally, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, squatting, and standing for 8 hours shifts.
  • Must be physically capable of walking up and down stair cases at minimum 2 times daily.
  • While performing the duties of this job, employees regularly stand and use hands and arms for the duration of their shift pushing and pulling motors.
  • Some overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to visually verify per job instructions.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow multiple instructions at one time.
  • Actively participate in cross training though out the department to improve and broaden the employees skill set.
  • Ability to move pans of bar stock to designated work station.
  • Remove blanks out of the pan and load them into the machine. (hoist parts if needed)
  • Once the machine has completed it’s task associate will remove the blank from the machine.
  • Ability to install endmills.
  • Work productively and ensure timely flow of orders through the department.
  • Demonstrate continued improvement in the areas of quality and productivity.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with company policies and in line with company core values.
  • Ability to adhere to the company’s PPE requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Tracking and organizing orders as they come and go from different areas of the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
