About The Position

The Lateral Certified Corrections Deputy performs working-level professional law enforcement duties related to operating the Washington County Jail. Duties involve safety, supervision, booking, release, and inmate programs. The position involves various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Lateral starting pay is $31.21 to $44.77 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED.
• Valid Utah driver's license.
• At least 21 years of age.
• At least one year of previous corrections officer experience as a Utah POST-certified BCO.
• Must currently be working in that capacity with a corrections facility or have been employed in that capacity within the 12 months before applying to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
• Out-of-state POST BCO/corrections-certified officers must contact Utah POST to confirm eligibility to challenge the Utah BCO certification process and obtain Utah POST BCO certification. The Sheriff's Office will not proceed with the application until the required Utah POST BCO certification is obtained.
• Successfully complete all stages of the Sheriff's Office testing process, which may include a physical agility test at the POST BCO entrance standard, background investigation, Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA), interview, and chemical screening.

Responsibilities
