About The Position

The Lateral Certified Corrections Deputy performs a wide range of working-level professional law enforcement duties related to operating the Washington County Jail. Duties involve safety, supervision, booking, release, and inmate programs. The position involves shift work with various hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Applicants must complete all stages of the Washington County Sheriff's Office testing process.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED.
• Valid Utah driver's license.
• At least 21 years of age.
• At least one year of previous corrections officer experience as a Utah POST-certified BCO.
• Currently working in that capacity at a corrections facility, or employed in that capacity within 12 months before applying to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
• Successfully complete all stages of the Sheriff's Office testing process, including a physical agility test at the POST BCO entrance standard, background investigation, Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA), interview, and chemical screening.
• Out-of-state POST BCO/corrections-certified officers must contact Utah POST to confirm eligibility to challenge the Utah BCO certification process and must obtain Utah POST BCO certification before the Sheriff's Office will proceed with the application.

Responsibilities
