About The Position

The Late Night Outreach Worker will be responsible for staffing the late-night mobile outreach program, focusing on distributing supplies and administering STI testing to street-based sex workers, people who use drugs and people who are unhoused in San Francisco with a focus on queer, transgender, and intersex people, and people of color. There are two late night shifts per week, and they are typically scheduled to occur from 10pm-2am.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR minimum 1 year of work experience in community health, social services, harm reduction, or social justice settings.
  • Strong demonstrated experience and knowledge in: conflict resolution, restorative justice, and de-escalation; maintaining appropriate boundaries with community members; cultural competency, humility and commitment to health equity and harm reduction.
  • Experience working with lesbian, bisexual, transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, and intersex communities.
  • Experience working with populations with varying disabilities, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and economic statuses.
  • Experience working with people who do sex work, those experiencing homelessness, people who have mental illness and/or use drugs, those of with a history of incarceration, people of varying ages.
  • A strong commitment to gender affirming health care and health care access for underserved populations.
  • Must be able to work 10pm-2am.
  • Strong commitment to overdose prevention work and working with people who use drugs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and responsive to change.
  • Willingness to be an ambassador at events on behalf of Lyon-Martin

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Outreach Program: Alongside Director, distribute harm reduction supplies including but not limited to syringes/needles, Narcan, fentanyl test strips, and other drug use supplies, food/water, safer sex supplies, first aid supplies, hygiene supplies, street sleeping supplies such as tents and sleeping bags; facilitate Narcan trainings, drug test strip trainings; administer COVID testing and vaccination; administer STI testing; through our Street-Based Outreach program.
  • Connect community members to our clinic services: Primary care, Gender Affirming Care, Suboxone, HIV/Hep C care, Gynecological Care, Mental Health Services, etc.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, coordinate orders when needed.
  • Participate in monthly Outreach team meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Director to plan and staff various community engagement events and trainings for community members (and staff when appropriate).
  • Maintain and distribute the Bad Date List
  • Collect, track and report data for all activities and submit to the Director in a timely manner (at minimum monthly, submitted by the 5th day of the next month).
  • Document thoroughly in Electronic Health Record as needed in a timely manner.
  • Table at events to educate community members about our services and to distribute harm reduction supplies to community members (as needed).
  • Work closely with community partner organizations to educate them about our services.
  • And, other duties as assigned.
