Caterpillar Remanufacturing is seeking a Laser Technician to support Reman Drivetrain at their West Fargo, ND facility. This role operates various Laser equipment to produce final products and assist in the development of new products and processes. The position is part of a team focused on providing high-quality, sustainable solutions that contribute to a circular economy. Requirements

  • Minimum two years job related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to deal with multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
  • Highly motivated and a self starter.
  • Ability to produce quality products.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to perform safe execution of repetitive motions.
  • Ability to repetitively lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Visual and hearing abilities as appropriate for safe execution of job duties, functions and tasks.
  • Physical exertion and effort to safely lift, push or pull components or parts.
  • Must pass a Background Screening, Drug & Alcohol Screening, and Post-Offer Medical Questionnaire.

  • Two-year tech school degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of Laser equipment to accurately produce final product.
  • Assist in the development of new products and processes.
  • Use precision measuring devices to effectively machine parts.
  • Use blueprints, gauges, torque measuring devices and/or other equipment to ensure conformance to quality specifications.
  • Set-up, adjust, and perform operations with close tolerance and finish requirements on standardized parts.
  • Conduct pre and post inspection on all machined parts.
  • Assist other team members with technical issues and/or production problems.
  • Efficiently perform all processes as assigned.
  • Assist in the development of work instructions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance as required.
  • Assist in identifying issues and initiating corrective action processes as necessary.
  • Perform 5S Audits.
  • Perform Safety Stop Audits observations as required.
  • Participate in the CI/PID Process.
  • Perform any duties or tasks that may be assigned to promote cross training or support for various areas of the shop.
  • Follow the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) Standard Work Sheets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Follow established facility safety policies, safe job procedures and hazardous risk assessments and using the proper Personal Protective equipment for the specific job being performed.
  • Work with a variety of employees throughout the day to effectively communicate needs and to perform job related tasks.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Conduct business with the highest level of honesty and integrity.
  • Interface with plant management, supervisors and production personnel.
