Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED/CAEC) required
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Prior experience operating laser cutting machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication setting required
  • Experience using Lantek and AutoCAD to program and design parts
  • Follow 200 Level Manuals as designated (calibration, document control, material substitution)

Responsibilities

  • Safely set up, operate, and monitor flatbed laser cutting machines (including both lasers) according to job requirements and safety protocols
  • Load and unload raw materials, inspecting steel for defects or irregularities prior to processing
  • Use appropriate lifting equipment and tools to safely handle and position materials
  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, and production schedules to determine machine settings and cutting specifications
  • Ensure correct material types are used and positioned properly for optimal cutting results
  • Conduct test runs and adjust laser settings (speed, power, focus, etc.) based on material and design specifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in compliance with safety regulations
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine issues; perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to maximize machine uptime and cutting quality
  • Measure and inspect finished parts to verify accuracy and adherence to design specifications
  • Monitor for quality control by checking for defects and ensuring finished pieces meet quality standards
  • Assist with other duties as needed to support production and team goals
