About The Position

We are seeking a knowledgeable Laser Operator II to join our team at Glenn Metalcraft. Under limited supervision, this position performs proficient operations of a laser cutting machine. This role requires an advanced understanding of various machinery and equipment necessary to produce metal components, adherence to all safety policies and procedures, and the ability to perform quality checks and machine adjustments. The operator will also be responsible for maintaining a clean work area, managing machine setups, and potentially assisting with multiple lasers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum 2 years cutting experience
  • Working knowledge of basic troubleshooting
  • Ability to safely perform work in varying work conditions
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Effective problem-solving skills/detailed oriented/sense of urgency
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, and Faro Arm
  • Ability to be forklift certified
  • Ability to follow hoist safety protocols
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. on a consistent basis
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools
  • Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Consistently wear personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work in production facility with fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of machinery with previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs proficient operations of a laser cutting machine.
  • Understands and accurately reports daily production quantities to meet set number of parts per hour.
  • Performs necessary quality checks on product and completes daily communication.
  • Performs advanced adjustments and repairs to machines.
  • Sets up workstation according to safety standards for maximum efficiency.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area and maintains all equipment according to established procedures.
  • Recalls and inputs programs.
  • Performs complete machine set ups without assistance.
  • Maintains a positive attitude with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • May assist with running multiple Lasers as needed.
  • Loads new consumables and troubleshoots.
  • Accurately checks out tools through tool crib inventory system.
  • Qualifies first part approval for inspection.
  • Assists with performing preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Reads, writes, and saves setup sheets for various machines.
  • Adjusts cut conditions for best performance/time.
  • Changes gases and adjusts pressures as needed.
  • Performs small programming edits.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/Tag out.
  • Promotes “safety first” mindset across production floor and ensures staff are following safety procedures/guidelines.
  • Consistently and accurately counts materials and products.
