The Laser Metrology Technician is responsible for testing production Haas machines and managing the data that provides the basis for determining Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) codes for government export compliance.
Requirements
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- 2+ years of experience with CNC machinery, assembly or maintenance.
- Understands the geometry of a CNC machine and its effects on machining.
- Reads and understands blueprints.
- Experience using Excel and SAP.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and safety rules; such as work instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and/or other employees of the organization in a one-on-one setting or small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions such as mathematical and/or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Nice To Haves
- One-year certificate from college or technical school is required, plus additional related experience, training and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage the laser testing and the data analysis of production Haas machines for the purpose of maintaining our ECCN database.
- Have a thorough understanding of how to set up and use the Renishaw laser interferometer equipment.
- Perform laser tests on machines in production in an organized fashion by following a schedule and by coordinating with assembly managers and supervisors to get access to the machines as needed.
- Analyze data and create standard reports for all machines measured.
- Store test data on the network, keep the ECCN database updated and accurate, and keep the inside sales group updated in order to maintain the export control data in the SAP material master for each top-level product.
- Employees are expected to follow instructions, procedures and to escalate any issue impacting workflow, quality, etc.
