About The Position

Impact Fab is seeking a 1st Shift Laser Lead to join their team in Holland, Michigan. This role involves overseeing custom fabrication projects, leading a team of operators, and directly influencing production performance. The company emphasizes a growing West Michigan environment where leadership expertise has a significant impact. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, with common weekly overtime and seldom work on Saturdays. Impact Fab is a custom fabrication shop specializing in short-run production, machine builds, and part prototyping, known for its commitment to quality service, quality parts, and genuine respect.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of laser manufacturing experience
Experience operating both Flat and Tube Laser equipment
Strong blueprint and GD&T reading skills
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
Excellent communication, coaching, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

Previous leadership or lead experience
Experience with nesting software and ERP/MRP systems (JobBOSS preferred)
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day leadership to Flat Laser, Tube Laser, and Deburr operators
Operate Flat and Tube Laser equipment as needed, including setups and changeovers
Direct daily work assignments and balance workload across available equipment
Ensure parts meet drawing, quality, and customer specifications
Train, mentor, and cross-train operators across laser processes
Coordinate with Production Control, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to keep jobs flowing
Monitor machine utilization, troubleshoot issues, and minimize downtime
Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment using 5S principles
Support continuous improvement efforts to reduce scrap, waste, and setup time
