About The Position
Become a key member of the Customer and Support Service Team. The Entry Level Laser Installation Technician installs laser equipment and performs preventive maintenance on lasers supported by MC Machinery Systems. Using basic mechanical and electrical knowledge, the technician learns to install and set up equipment at customer sites using plans and drawings. Extensive travel to customer sites throughout North America is required. Training is provided, and the position offers career advancement opportunities. The technician learns to install equipment and verify that machines operate according to manufacturer specifications, perform preventive maintenance, communicate and document information for coworkers and customers, and prepare service reports and supporting documentation. The role operates mainly indoors but involves exposure to changing weather, moving mechanical parts, and moderate-to-loud noise. It generally involves substantial driving and overtime.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Ability to operate a computer with a Windows operating system.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Comfort working at heights.
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to travel extensively to customer sites throughout North America.
- Ability to work overtime.
- Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, standing, kneeling, and crouching.
- Good visual and color acuity.
Nice To Haves
- Associate or technical degree preferred.
- One to two years of electrical and mechanical experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Learn to install equipment and verify proper machine operation against manufacturer specifications by conducting required tests.
- Learn to perform preventive maintenance on laser equipment.
- Communicate ideas, strategies, problems, and solutions to coworkers and customers verbally and in writing.
- Prepare written service reports and other necessary supporting documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
