About The Position

WEG is seeking a dedicated Laser Equipment Operator for their 2nd shift operations. This role involves operating and programming laser cutting machinery to produce high-quality parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have prior experience operating machinery, the ability to work overtime, and possess strong basic math and blueprint reading skills. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

  • Prior experience operating machinery.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Occasionally lifting objects weighing over 60 pounds, moving steel, pallets, etc.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend common vocabulary.
  • Must be able to calculate basic math, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, plans, layouts, and/or templates.
  • Safety Sensitive Position: drug screen includes THC.
  • Resides within a reasonable commuting distance of Washington MO.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available for these positions.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of prior manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and interpret BOM, drawings, and cutting schedules to complete laser operations without supervision.
  • Locate and set up steel in the storage tower using fork trucks and automated systems.
  • Inspect steel blanks for size/thickness, damage, and burrs, ensuring they meet specifications.
  • Operate the laser machine using automation with complex menu choices to move steel blanks into and out of the laser cutting portion.
  • Set up and program the laser machine by interpreting schedules and following approved procedures, which may involve complex menu and programming choices.
  • Operate the laser and monitor quality and quantities per manufacturing procedures.
  • Set up the laser to ensure the beam is focused correctly and proper cut quality is maintained.
  • Monitor compressed gas levels and change to new bottles as necessary.
  • Ensure proper sequence and running of the laser.
  • Inspect parts at completion of the process and maintain quality records as necessary.
  • Move finished parts off of the machine.
  • Perform any related tasks as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
