About The Position

Conair, part of the PiovanGroup, is a leading producer of auxiliary equipment for the plastics processing industry. Position: Laser Cutting Technician Location: Franklin, PA Role The Laser Cutting Technician sets up, operates, and maintains CNC laser cutting systems to transform raw metal sheets, tubing and structural shapes into high-precision components. This position reports to the Fabrication Supervisor and is located in our plant in Franklin, Pennsylvania.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; technical certification or trade school training in machining or metal fabrication is a plus.
  • Two (2+) years of hands-on experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment or working in a fast-paced sheet metal fabrication environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, computer literacy, and familiarity with CNC programming, nesting, and blueprint interpretation.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills to troubleshoot failures and minimize downtime.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy items, stand/walk for long periods.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Run CNC laser cutting machines, load cutting programs, and adjust parameters (like focus, speed, and assist gases) for different material types and thicknesses.
  • Stage, load, and unload raw sheet metal and finished parts safely using overhead cranes, forklifts, or vacuum lifts etc.
  • Maintain and control inventory of raw material.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify correct dimensions.
  • Identify and resolve basic equipment, material, or programming issues, and perform routine daily cleaning and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean work area following company safety rules while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
