The Laser Artist will join Pacific Science Center’s theater team to design and perform laser shows to a variety of musical genres to a wide-ranging audience. This position works as a part of the theaters team that operates Pacific Science Center’s theater spaces. This position will also work with the Events team as a part of the production staff when events are held in the theater spaces.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of Audio/Visual gear
Basic MS Office/Windows Proficiency
Excellent project management and ability to meet deadlines.
Clear verbal and written communication.
Strong attention to detail.
Flexibility and the ability to remain calm and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to learn new software.
Work daytime a majority of the time. Must have weekend availability. Weekday hours during the day will vary throughout the year. Work will take place on site at Pacific Science Center.
Associate’s Degree OR equivalent work experience in production
Experience in customer service
Experience with MS Office as well as other Windows based programs

Nice To Haves

Enthusiasm for a wide range of musical genres
Experience with Audio or Visual gear, specifically in lighting.

Responsibilities

Perform live laser shows for our guests
Assist with general maintenance of the laser equipment and the theater spaces.
Working with the event staff to help support special events
Speaking to guests of all ages about how laser shows work and what it’s like to be a laser artist.
Assist with educational demonstrations as needed in the laser dome with AV as well as imagery on the dome to help explain scientific concepts
Monitor the laser dome spaces to ensure the safety of patrons in accordance with federal regulations
Help decide on new shows to be created and/or updating the content of existing shows.
