The Laser Artist will join Pacific Science Center’s theater team to design and perform laser shows to a variety of musical genres to a wide-ranging audience. This position works as a part of the theaters team that operates Pacific Science Center’s theater spaces. This position will also work with the Events team as a part of the production staff when events are held in the theater spaces.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of Audio/Visual gear
  • Basic MS Office/Windows Proficiency
  • Excellent project management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and the ability to remain calm and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to learn new software.
  • Work daytime a majority of the time. Must have weekend availability. Weekday hours during the day will vary throughout the year. Work will take place on site at Pacific Science Center.
  • Associate’s Degree OR equivalent work experience in production
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience with MS Office as well as other Windows based programs

Nice To Haves

  • Enthusiasm for a wide range of musical genres
  • Experience with Audio or Visual gear, specifically in lighting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform live laser shows for our guests
  • Assist with general maintenance of the laser equipment and the theater spaces.
  • Working with the event staff to help support special events
  • Speaking to guests of all ages about how laser shows work and what it’s like to be a laser artist.
  • Assist with educational demonstrations as needed in the laser dome with AV as well as imagery on the dome to help explain scientific concepts
  • Monitor the laser dome spaces to ensure the safety of patrons in accordance with federal regulations
  • Help decide on new shows to be created and/or updating the content of existing shows.
  • Other duties as assigned
