About The Position

Assembles sub systems using several tools, gages, devices, Loctite, liquid nitrogen and lubricants. Performs leak-testing of cubic parts with several different processes and technologies. Compiles workpieces, cubic engine components and material according to parts specifications, and checks and reports on defects. Reads and interprets assembly blueprints, specifications manuals and plans assembly. Verifies conformance of parts to stock lists and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments such as callipers, micrometers, fixed and telescoping gauges, templates and fixtures, and adjusts according to quality control plan. Positions and aligns components for assembly with and into larger mounting elements using various equipment and verifies parts clearances. Tests larger mounting elements for quality assurance and records results according to type, quantity and frequency. Reworks, repairs, and replaces damaged parts or assemblies. Reports disruptions (e.g. tolerance deviations, break-down, wrong parts, leakage) that cannot be remedied to the appropriate quality/machining group. Inspects, operates, and tests completed products to verify functioning, machine capabilities, and conformance to MTU specifications. Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas. Identifies and reduces non-value-added work. Performs special projects as may be required and maintains on the job flexibility by providing support in other production related areas. Promotes a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and lives the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years in a mechanical, maintenance or machining trade school or equivalent associate's degree and 3 years of experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment; or 5 years of experience in a durable goods assembly or manufacturing environment.

  • Intermediate knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods
  • Intermediate knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Intermediate knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards
  • Intermediate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Intermediate ability to interpret Statistical Process Control (SPC) and operate scanning devices for system communications
  • Intermediate ability to interpret control plans, blueprints, build documents, schematic drawings, layouts, documents regarding engine assembly and testing and quality requirements (Quality Alerts, Second Checks, etc.)

  • Intermediate PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate computer terminals and scanning devices
  • Ability to obtain appropriate hoists and power vehicle licenses (Flatbed, Hi-Lo, & Mule) when necessary
  • Knowledge of MTU products, policies and procedures
  • Experience as a CNC milling cutter operator
