About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Large Machine Operator to join our dynamic team in the Plastics department in our Seymour power cable manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will plan operation of, setup and operate machine to to complete final processes on the cable using a variety of large machines specific to order / products.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machinery or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in cable or wire manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical fitness to handle heavy equipment and the ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with production line management and quality assurance standards.
  • Competence in basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills for reporting and team coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Review documentation / work orders
  • Set up, monitor and operate variety of large machines including: large armorer, cabling machine, parallel and strip line, and pulling eyes, and take off / payout including but not limited to the following tasks:
  • Move, load and unload variety sized reels of product and component parts
  • Guide and thread cable into machinery
  • Splice wires
  • Cap and tie down ends, wrap product
  • Monitor quality
  • Operate fork truck and change propane cylinders
  • Document
  • Communicate with supervisor
  • Clean work area
  • Train employees
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Other tasks as assigned
