About The Position

We are seeking an experienced litigator to join the team in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania under a flexible hybrid work arrangement. This senior-level attorney will independently manage high-exposure large loss and excess liability matters while working closely with firm leadership and key clients. The role includes developing case strategies, handling sophisticated discovery and expert matters, litigating motions, participating in alternative dispute resolution and trial preparation, maintaining client relationships, and supporting business development for the firm's large loss and excess liability practice. An active Pennsylvania law license is required. New Jersey admission, trial experience, and a portable book of business are advantageous.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active Pennsylvania law license.
• Senior-level litigation experience with a strong background in insurance defense, specifically independently handling large loss, excess liability, or other high-exposure litigation.

Nice To Haves

• New Jersey bar admission.
• Trial experience, either first-chair or significant second-chair.
• Experience handling catastrophic injury or significant damages matters.
• Experience representing excess carriers.
• Established relationships with insurance carriers or corporate clients.
• A portable book of business or a unique practice background.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex large loss and excess liability matters from initial inception through final resolution.
• Develop comprehensive strategies for high-exposure claims, analyzing liability, damages, coverage, and excess exposure.
• Handle sophisticated discovery issues, manage expert witnesses, and prepare for and defend depositions.
• Draft and argue dispositive and complex motions.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and trial preparations.
• Maintain strong, professional relationships with insurance carriers, excess carriers, self-insured entities, and corporate clients.
• Support development of new business opportunities and strengthen the firm's large loss and excess liability practice.
