About The Position

The Large Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating all types of large equipment, including but not limited to a material handling crane or hydraulic excavator, loader, yard semi-truck, switch engine, back-hoe, or dozer. The role involves maintaining the general appearance and maintenance of equipment, identifying and communicating any quality, environmental, or production-related concerns. The schedule is a 2-week rotating shift: Monday - Thursday and Wednesday - Saturday, from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

  • Six months operating large equipment experience preferred.
  • Equipment operation and preventative maintenance knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate all types of large equipment including material handling crane, hydraulic excavator, loader, yard semi-truck, switch engine, back-hoe, or dozer.
  • Maintain the general appearance and maintenance of equipment.
  • Identify and communicate any quality, environmental, or production related concerns.
  • Collaborate with other departments for efficient overall operations and provide customer service.
  • Prepare various documents and reports, weigh packages, and perform material inspections for all loads.
  • Distinguish between grades and types of scrap materials and understand customer specifications.
  • Maximize the value of all materials by understanding the value of different grades and performing grading, segregating, and upgrading duties.
  • Perform all pre-inspection checks and monitor equipment during operation.
  • Perform troubleshooting and notify management of any malfunctions.
  • Complete all required operating documents.
  • Assist customers in unloading materials.
