Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division currently has an opening for a Painter I position located in the Corinth, MS facility. As a painter, you will become a member of the team that lives daily the team culture, understands, and accepts plant policy, procedures, and practices. Your daily tasks often include operating a spray applicator and/or other equipment to apply industrial paint finishes on engines or component parts via mixing paints and other solutions, monitoring drying to ensure desired quality results.

Requirements

  • Previous paint application experience within a manufacturing setting
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Applications (basic skills/knowledge - capable of functioning independently)
  • Basic understanding of both hand and air (pneumatic) tooling
  • Previous experience in an automotive, paint or body setting or similar application experience
  • Basic understanding of blueprints
  • Previous experience with compliant spray equipment
  • Interest in becoming a power trainer
  • Job may be physically demanding at times and must be able to handle high volume fast paced operation.
  • Comfort with heights and utilization of ladders and lifts
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
  • Will be required to wear a detail suit with hood and/or respirator.
  • Will require respirator physical and training
  • Must be able to wear proper PPE.
  • May be required to lift/push/pull heavy parts up to 30 lbs. multiple times per shift.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 10+ hours per shift.
  • All Paint positions will be required to wear a detail suit with hood and/or respirator.
  • Any current agency workers applying to this position must have worked the required 300 hours to be considered as well as meeting all requirements for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced, safety and quality focused team environment to perform various assembly processes.
  • Ensure that parts and materials used in the assembly process are free from quality defects
  • Inspect parts and materials to ensure they are free from quality defects
  • Paint engines or component parts per work instructions, standard operating procedures, blueprints, risk assessment, and job routing
  • Conduct operations level maintenance on all paint systems and equipment: paint kitchen, 2KS, paint booth, hoods, guns, etc.
  • Complete daily production logs to meet environmental and safety standards
  • Maintain operator performed maintenance (OPM) and routine housekeeping (5S) and perform activities to eliminate workplace hazards and handling of hazardous waste
  • Identify and relay information for correction on discrepancies in affected assembly processes, safety, quality, and production issues
  • Prioritize work to meet production schedules
  • Disassembly and clean paint gun and other equipment
  • Flexibility to work across other value streams
  • Prioritize reliability and quality awareness
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Starting hourly pay rate of $19.75 (pay negotiations based on skills/experience)
  • This position is 2nd shift with an additional 7% night shift premium
  • Work Hours: 3pm-1am (Mon-Thurs)
