The Facilities and Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, maintenance, and oversight of Laboratory Animal Resource Center (LARC) facilities, equipment, and operational infrastructure across multiple campus locations. This position ensures the reliability, safety, compliance, and functionality of specialized animal research facilities, including animal housing environments, mechanical systems, sanitation processes, and capital equipment. The incumbent serves as a key liaison between LARC leadership, campus facilities departments, contractors, architects, engineers, researchers, and regulatory stakeholders to support a high-quality research environment. The position oversees facility operations spanning 14 campus locations with approximately 182,673 square feet of research and animal care space and manages maintenance activities associated with more than $27 million in capital equipment assets. Department Overview The Laboratory Animal Resource Center (LARC) is a recharge department providing veterinary care and housing services for all animals used in biomedical research and teaching. LARC provides veterinary medical care and husbandry services, assures compliance with laws and regulations concerning the use of animals in research, and veterinary medical advice to UCSF researchers.
