About The Position

The Language-Based Program at the Madeline English School is an instructional model designed for students from grades 3-8 who have been diagnosed with language-based learning disabilities (i.e. specific learning disability, dyslexia, communication disability, etc.). The Language-Based program provides the opportunity for small group instruction to be taught within a small group setting where the information is presented using specialized instruction in order to meet individual student's needs. Highly structured systematic research-based reading instruction is matched to student needs.

Requirements

Licensed MA Special Education teacher, Moderate Special Needs
Additional license as a Reading Specialist preferred
Experience with Language Based Learning Disability interventions and support

Responsibilities

Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that is conducive to student’s learning and their ability.
Create and implement lesson plans, instructional materials, and activities that align with curriculum standards and diverse learning needs.
Develop an instructional model and practices that support students with language-based learning disabilities across academic settings.
Organize and structure content to scaffold the speaking, listening, reading, writing, and executive function skills to meet their students’ unique needs.
Provide specialized language-based instruction that is explicit, systematic, and sequential
Design and teach a small group academic class(es).
Serve as the special education case manager for assigned students.
Co-teach with grade-level teams to assist in the generalization of learning strategies.
Maintain ongoing progress monitoring of students abilities and progress through a variety of formal and informal assessments and using the date to adjust instruction accordingly.
Collaborate in the design and implementation of modifications to school curricula, differentiated instruction, and positive behavior support.
Attend IEP meetings including progress meetings to solve challenging issues that arise across a student’s academic program.
Write IEP’s and progress notes using data collection across the quarter / tri-semester.
Contribute to the accurate, complete, and correct student records including IEPs and ALL documents related to the student’s special education file as required by law and district policies, including meeting timelines.
Monitor progress of the student and the learning process towards the achievement of IEP goals and objectives.
Collaborate with special education teams, including service providers as well as Administrators.
Collaborate and build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues in order to support students in their development.
