About The Position

The Middle School of Plainville is seeking a Language Arts Teacher to begin at the start of the 2026-2027 School Year. This position is for the Middle School level and focuses on English/Language Arts. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of effective reading and writing instruction for young adolescents, experience in reading and writing interventions, and proficiency in various reading assessments.

Requirements

  • Connecticut Educator certification (or pending): 215 English Middle Grades 4-8 (must be highly qualified in English/Language Arts).
  • Strong understanding of effective reading and writing instruction for young adolescents.
  • Experienced in reading and writing interventions and targeted small group learning.
  • Experienced in wide-range of reading assessments including curriculum assessments, diagnostic reading assessments, progress monitoring, and universal screening assessments.
  • Demonstrated success in student performance, determined by but not limited to, standardized assessments (Smarter Balance), and other assessment measures.
  • Knowledge of current literacy research and active with ongoing professional development in the field of literacy.

Nice To Haves

  • Remedial reading and Literacy Coaching certified #102 is preferred.

Responsibilities
