About The Position

AoPS Academy is seeking a part-time Language Arts Instructor to teach small classes using company-created curriculum and materials designed for advanced students. The instructor will engage students in class and student-led learning, manage classes of up to 16 students, grade tests and assignments, provide feedback, and build relationships with students and families. The role focuses on inspiring students’ love of learning and critical thinking in language arts. This is an in-person position at the Millburn Campus in Short Hills, New Jersey. AoPS Academy is a year-round educational enrichment program offering curriculum in math, science, and language arts to students in grades 1–12. The instructor must be available during weekday after-school hours, as early as 4 p.m., and/or on weekends. Each assigned course meets once per week for 1 hour and 45 minutes, and the position requires an initial commitment of about three hours per week for each assigned class.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree is required.
Strong content knowledge in reading, writing, and/or grammar.
Must be available to teach during weekday after-school hours (as early as 4 p.m.) and/or on weekends.
Must be located in Millburn, Short Hills, or the greater area and able to commute to the campus.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available, including STEM-OPT and H-1B.

Nice To Haves

A bachelor’s degree in education or a humanities field is strongly preferred.
K–12 classroom teaching experience is preferred.
