About The Position

We are currently looking for a hardworking and motivated individual to join our special projects team as a Landscaper - Hardscape. This individual helps maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and general safety of the property. He or she works with a minimum of supervision to ensure all areas of the property are maintained in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition by ensuring mason work at all properties is in excellent condition. The landscaper must have hardscape experience. The hardscaper's responsibilities include laying building materials including concrete, fence materials and constructing or repairing surfaces or structures. Individuals must be able to lift or carry heavy objects continuously. The candidate will be working in multiple facilities. Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license is a requirement. Some nights, weekends, and holidays may be required. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of hardscaping experience. He or she must have the physical ability to perform all aspects of this job (lifting, standing, bending, etc.), must be reliable and trustworthy, and must pay attention to detail and take pride in his or her work.

Requirements

  • Must be knowledgeable of related tools, masonry techniques, and materials
  • Skill in the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of masonry structures and surfaces
  • Working knowledge of hardscaping techniques
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail
  • Good maths skills to calculate work surface and materials
  • Experience with using hardscaping tools
  • High level of creativity
  • Excellent design skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building regulations and codes
  • Able to follow spoken and written instructions
  • Able to work without direct supervision
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds continuously
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Hardscaping tools

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years landscape/hardscape experience preferred
  • A degree or an apprenticeship in landscaping with hardscape preferred

Responsibilities

  • Preparing surfaces prior to beginning work.
  • Performing small patio work, rock hounding, grading of lawns, build and repairs fences
  • Laying blocks or bricks following blueprints, plans, or drawings
  • Determining work requirements and sequence of assignments through review of work orders, plans, or drawings
  • Laying out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels
  • Mixing cement using hoes, cement-mixing equipment, and/or hand tools
  • Cutting or breaking bricks and concrete using hammers, powered abrasive saws, paving breakers, drills, and/or hand tools.
  • Molding expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge
  • Operating equipment, such as bobcat, cement mixer
  • Working with designers, department heads, and executives to ensure they complete the work according to the requirements
  • Measuring the work area to calculate the time and materials required to complete the project
  • Preparing the surrounding area, including covering fixtures and furniture to prevent messes
  • Cleaning up tools and supplies, replacing fixtures and rearranging furniture after completing the project
  • Collaborating with other trades people on other larger jobs
  • Working with other construction professionals such as, carpenters, electricians and plumbers when necessary
  • Selecting materials as per the requirements of the project and sourcing supplies that fit within budget and meets style specifications
  • Liaising with department heads and executive team to discuss project details, budgets, and timelines
  • Working with suppliers to obtain necessary material while staying within the customer budget
  • Consulting other construction professionals to ensure the best possible results and the final product
  • Reading blueprints and designs prepared by other architects, construction professionals, and ensuring they meet building code recommendations and requirements.
  • Maintains clean, organized work areas and securely stores equipment and supplies
  • Completes any reports or logs
  • Reports equipment malfunctions, injuries, and accidents to the supervisor
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Performs small repairs as assigned
