About The Position

This opportunity is with Good Shepherd – Non-Profit Homes (Housing Division). Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Landscape Worker enhances the dignity and quality of life of clients, visitors, and staff by maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming outdoor environments across all properties while demonstrating Good Shepherd's Mission, Vision and Values.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in gardening/landscape maintenance
  • Valid non-probationary driver's license (ability to drive pick-up with trailer attached)
  • CPR/First Aid and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to Good Shepherd's Mission, Values, anti-racism/anti-oppression, and Harm Reduction framework

Responsibilities

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, flower beds, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas across all properties
  • Perform annual winter close-down and spring clean-up
  • Participate in snow removal as required
  • Plant, transplant, fertilize, water, prune, and weed flower beds and plant areas
  • Determine annual plant selections and placement; separate and replant perennials as required
  • Determine mulch requirements for each property
  • Remove grass, branches, and weeds to the city dump as required
  • Implement landscape plans and maintain curb appeal
  • Complete assigned work orders and light maintenance duties (painting, janitorial support, lighting assessments)
  • Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Submit daily time logs and bi-weekly time sheets
  • Adhere to the Use of Vehicle Policy
  • Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or defective equipment
  • Competent in the use and maintenance of riding mowers, weed trimmers, leaf blowers, bush trimmers etc.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
