The Landscape Team Leader is an experienced member of the Landscape division, responsible for directing a team of two or more members. This role requires the ability to operate various equipment, possess basic horticultural knowledge, and have advanced knowledge in landscape means, methods, and techniques, working with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED
  • Two years of documented experience in the green industry
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Apple technology for time tracking and job management
  • Great analytical problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with clients and professionals
  • Ability to use Google translate efficiently to communicate with Spanish speaking workers
  • Ability to drive truck & trailer combinations

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing job notes for clear understanding of scope of work to be performed on daily basis
  • Plan daily tasks, labor, materials, and equipment for current and next day’s work
  • Read, measure, and interpret landscape plans
  • Working knowledge and understanding of pesticides used
  • Mix and apply various pesticides using proper PPE and application techniques
  • Lead team members performing landscape services including: landscape bed installation and maintenance, pruning, plant health identification and treatment, irrigation installation and repair, water feature installation and maintenance, lighting system installation and repair, drainage installation, grading, watering new installations, plant installation, spring clean-ups, retaining wall installation, stepping stone and step installation, edging installation, utility identification, and blowing hard surfaces
  • Perform snow removal
  • Operate small and medium duty tools and equipment such as compact track loaders, mini-excavators, pressure washers, hedge trimmers, backpack blowers, bed edgers, re-definers, rototillers, chainsaws, pole saws, string trimmers, ladders, backpack sprayers, dump trailers/beds, mulching trailers, wheel loaders, zip levels, tape measures, cordless & hammer drills, Sawzalls, circular saws, voltage meters, plumb bobs, levels, and gas/electric water pumps
  • Identify enhancement ideas to improve client property and submit via issue tickets
  • Learn and have a working knowledge of all properties, responsibilities and know limits of work
  • Train and coach a team of two or more team members to help develop their skills & ensure team members receive proper training
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site and ensure truck/tools/equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and budget to quality standard
  • Responsible for all tools being returned to the shop at the end of a workday and tagging any tools needing repairs
  • Maintain a neat and clean professional appearance
  • Perform daily check-ins with Group Leader by 3:00 PM to discuss current project status and equipment needs for the following day
  • Work as a team member throughout Southern Landscape Group with a positive attitude
