A Landscape Care Team Leader is an experienced team member responsible for directing a team of two or more individuals. This role requires a strong understanding of horticulture, including lighting, water gardens, and irrigation, and the ability to operate various equipment.

Requirements

  • A high school degree or GED
  • Two years of documented experience in the green industry
  • Great verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use Apple technology for time tracking and job management
  • Great analytical problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate with clients and professionals
  • Ability to use Google translate efficiently to communicate with Spanish speaking workers
  • Ability to drive truck & trailer combinations
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license with insurable driving record
  • VDACS Registered Tech Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • NALP Landscape Technician Cert. - Landscape Install & Irrigation
  • VCH (Skilled)

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing job notes for clear understanding of scope of work to be performed on daily basis
  • Plan daily tasks, labor, and equipment for current and next day’s work
  • Read, measure, and interpret landscape plans
  • Mix and apply various pesticides using proper PPE and application techniques
  • Lead team members performing landscape services including bed maintenance, pruning, plant health identification and treatment, irrigation, water feature care, lighting maintenance, and floral services
  • Perform spring clean-ups, including bed cleanout, edging, pre-emergent application, fertilization, and mulch installation
  • Operate small and medium duty tools and equipment such as hedge trimmers, backpack blowers, bed edgers, re-definers, rototiller, chainsaw, pole saw, string trimmer, ladder, backpack sprayer, dump trailer/bed, mulching trailer, wheel loader, voltage meter, tape measure, plumb bob, and level
  • Identify enhancement ideas to improve client property and submit via issue tickets
  • Learn and maintain a working knowledge of all properties, responsibilities, and limits of work
  • Perform snow removal
  • Perform any other tasks necessary
  • Train and coach a team of two or more team members to help develop their skills and ensure proper training
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient job site
  • Ensure truck/tools/equipment are properly maintained
  • Ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule and budget to quality standard
  • Return all tools to the shop at the end of a workday and tag any tools needing repairs
  • Maintain a neat and clean professional appearance
  • Perform daily check-ins with Group Leader by 3:00 PM to discuss current project status and equipment needs for the following day
  • Work as a team member with a positive attitude
