About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a skilled, motivated Landscape Supervisor to join our Parks & Recreation team. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the beauty, health, and functionality of the city's landscaped areas, parks, municipal properties, and designated rights‑of‑way. The Landscape Supervisor oversees the installation, care, and maintenance of city landscaping. This role supervises landscape crews, coordinates greenhouse operations, manages irrigation systems, and ensures that O'Fallon's outdoor spaces remain attractive, safe, and well‑maintained for residents and visitors.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of horticulture principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of landscape design elements and concepts.
  • Knowledge of irrigation system design, installation, and repair.
  • Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Skill in supervision, leadership, and team coordination.
  • Skill in interpersonal communication and problem‑solving.
  • Skill in operating office equipment and completing administrative tasks.
  • Bachelor's degree in horticulture or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in landscape maintenance, including supervisory experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Missouri driver's license appropriate for assigned vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and coordinates landscape mowing crews, horticulture crews, and right‑of‑way mowing personnel.
  • Oversees greenhouse operations and plant production.
  • Supervises and participates in the installation and maintenance of landscape beds.
  • Oversees the delivery of plant nutrition supplements.
  • Implements and supervises integrated pest management procedures.
  • Schedules irrigation operations and supervises irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Coordinates and supervises volunteer groups assisting with landscape projects.
  • Assists with preparing financial estimates for equipment, supplies, and projects.
  • Assists with hiring full‑time, part‑time, and seasonal personnel.
  • Assists with evaluating, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Supports preparation for festivals and special events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
