About The Position

This role requires a combination of animal care, facility maintenance, team management, and customer service skills to ensure the smooth operation of the stable and the well-being of the animals. The position involves daily exercise of horses and other animals, holding horses for veterinary care and farrier services, maintaining a clean and organized stable area, grooming and bathing animals, monitoring horses for health and soundness, assisting with breeding and foaling activities, and providing support for handling problem animals. The supervisor will also manage and oversee a team to ensure high-quality standards, take a proactive approach to managing daily operations, maintain excellent internal and external customer relations, and act as a solution provider to resolve challenges. Other related duties may be assigned to support the facility's operation.

Requirements

  • Prior experience and demonstrated knowledge of equine care
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to learn basic principles and techniques
  • Ability to perceive identification numbers marked on material
  • Ability to read and understand numbers and volumes
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with arms and hands
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Ability to talk or hear
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in various temperatures from hot to cold
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and distance vision acuity to operate mobile equipment

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the feeding, cleaning, and supplement schedules for all animals
  • Daily exercise of horses and other animals
  • Hold horses for veterinary care and farrier services
  • Maintain a clean and organized stable area, including regular facility upkeep
  • Groom and bathe animals as required to ensure proper care and hygiene
  • Monitor horses for health, soundness, and overall well-being
  • Assist with breeding and foaling activities
  • Provide support for handling and managing problem animals
  • Manage and oversee a team to ensure high-quality standards are consistently met
  • Take a proactive approach to managing daily operations within the scope of authority
  • Maintain excellent internal and external customer relations, fostering a customer-centric environment
  • Identify issues and act as a solution provider to resolve challenges
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the operation of the facility
