About The Position

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive landscape and maintenance services at Washington Family Ranch. The role involves direct care for turf, plants, and shrubs, as well as designing and maintaining flower beds. The Landscape Supervisor will also develop and manage irrigation and preventative maintenance programs, and contribute to landscape master planning. A key aspect of the role includes supervising maintenance personnel and acting as a backup to the camping superintendent. The position requires a strong commitment to Young Life's Christian mission and values, fostering a Christ-like environment for guests and staff.

Requirements

  • AA in horticulture
  • Three years landscape experience or five years of experience in landscape care and design
  • Knowledge of area plants and shrubs highly desired.
  • Ability to oversee day-to-day maintenance functions, personnel and projects.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Must be ready, willing and able to fulfill ministry functions as may be required by the organization.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life including, without limitation, those related to religious belief or ministry activities.
  • Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff.
  • Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important.
  • All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for the turf (top dressing, fertilizing, aeration, etc.)
  • Provide care for the plants and shrub (pruning, planting, fertilizing and herbicide.)
  • Design, plant and care for flower and planting beds for spring and summer.
  • Work closely with the landscape foreman in scheduling fertilizing, aeration and mowing.
  • Develop and maintain irrigation systems.
  • Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program for landscape and farm operations.
  • Provide input in the development of a landscape master plan.
  • Perform landscape and preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate DIN/PM/projects, supervising the work of two – four maintenance personnel.
  • Act as back-up to camping superintendent.
  • Meet weekly to plan and strategize for landscape, maintenance and projects.
  • Work closely with the landscape foreman in all aspects of landscape.
