Landscape Equipment Mechanic
About The Position
MetroGreenscape, Inc. is seeking a skilled Landscape Equipment Mechanic to diagnose and repair commercial landscape equipment. This role involves working on a variety of equipment including mowers, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and hedge trimmers. The mechanic will also perform preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, mowers, and small equipment, and occasionally handle roadside repairs such as fixing tires on company vehicles. Key responsibilities include managing oil changes, filters, belts, blades, greasing, and addressing hydraulic and electrical issues. The goal is to quickly troubleshoot breakdowns, minimize equipment downtime, and ensure crews can operate efficiently. Success in this role means keeping equipment in optimal working condition through prompt repairs and proactive preventative maintenance, maintaining a clean and organized shop, and effectively communicating with management regarding priorities and equipment needs.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of repair experience
- Experience working on commercial mowers and landscape equipment
- Experience with small engines, hydraulic systems, belts, spindles, electrical issues, and general troubleshooting
- Ability to handle basic truck and trailer maintenance
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair commercial landscape equipment
- Work on mowers, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and other handheld equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, mowers, and small equipment
- Fix tires on company vehicles in the field
- Handle oil changes, filters, belts, blades, greasing, hydraulic issues, electrical issues, and other day-to-day repair needs
- Troubleshoot breakdowns quickly and get crews back up and running fast
- Stay ahead of problems through preventative maintenance and inspection
- Keep the shop and mechanic area clean, organized, and ready to work
- Track repairs, parts used, and service needs in company systems
- Communicate clearly with management on priorities, repair timelines, and equipment needs
- Help maintain accountability for tools, parts, equipment, and repair inventory
