About The Position

Landscape Garden Centers, a family-owned company with over 40 years of experience, is seeking a Landscape Designer & Sales Consultant. This role involves guiding clients through the entire design process, from initial consultation to project completion, combining creative design expertise with relationship-building and sales skills. The designer will meet with homeowners and business clients, develop custom landscape designs, present proposals, and help clients make informed decisions about their outdoor investments.

Requirements

  • Experience in landscape design, landscape architecture, horticulture, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with landscape design software and basic estimating tools.
  • Strong understanding of plants, hardscapes, outdoor living spaces, and landscape construction practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Consultative sales and relationship-building skills.
  • Creative design and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to translate customer ideas into practical, buildable solutions.
  • Strong budgeting and proposal preparation skills.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with project management and installation teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sales, customer service, or account management experience preferred.
  • Degree or certification in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related field.
  • Experience with residential landscape design and construction.
  • Experience presenting designs and closing sales.
  • Knowledge of local plant materials and landscape installation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming landscape design leads and schedule consultations.
  • Meet with residential and commercial clients to understand their goals, preferences, and budget.
  • Educate clients on our design and installation process.
  • Build strong relationships and provide exceptional customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Present designs and proposals in a professional and persuasive manner.
  • Secure project approvals and assist clients through the decision-making process.
  • Create custom landscape designs that align with client needs, site conditions, and project budgets.
  • Develop design concepts, layouts, planting plans, and outdoor living solutions.
  • Present design concepts and gather client feedback.
  • Revise and modify designs based on client requests and project requirements.
  • Prepare project budgets and cost proposals for client review and approval.
  • Manage project scope changes and coordinate change orders as needed.
  • Ensure all project details are accurately documented before transferring projects to the Project Manager.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and installation teams to support successful project execution.
  • Conduct final project walkthroughs with clients.
  • Verify completed work meets client expectations and design intent.
  • Address any final concerns and ensure a positive customer experience.
