About The Position

Timmons Group is seeking a Landscape Designer II/III for their Charlotte, NC office. The landscape architecture and land planning team provides services for commercial, mixed-use, parks and open space, energy and renewables, campus and institution, multi-family, and government clients. Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program is preferred but a non-accredited degree in landscape architecture may be considered.
  • 2-8 years’ experience in landscape architecture is preferred.
  • Professional registration or on track to receive is preferred.
  • Team player with excellent design, graphic, and communication skills.
  • Creative, open-minded, and organized.
  • Knowledge of plants and experience in developing landscape plans.
  • Experience in producing high-quality concept drawings and presentations.
  • Experience in producing construction documentation drawings.
  • Experience in construction administration and specifications.
  • Knowledge of project accounting and demonstrated ability to manage project schedules and budgets.
  • Experience with both in-office and remote collaboration.
  • Experience in design software including AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and 3D modeling programs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite applications, BlueBeam PDF, and construction management software(s).

Nice To Haves

  • LEED or SITES Accreditation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Technical Production (80-90%): Collaborate with project managers and team members on various project types and scales. Assist project teams with landscape plan development through all phases: site inventory, concept design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents. Prepare illustrative design plans and 3D renderings. Assist teams in preparing construction cost estimates and specifications. Communicate with internal engineering teams and other disciplines. Communicate with external vendors. Participate in construction administration. Act as an advocate for landscape architecture at Timmons Group.
  • Project and Task Management (10-15%): Assist in managing internal project tasks led by civil engineering teams that include landscape design. Provide QA/QC from concept to documentation. Work closely with project managers to maintain project deadlines, budgets, milestones, and deliverables, and communicate this information to team members. Act as a mentor for design staff.
  • Administrative Management and Training (10-15%): Attend weekly meetings to coordinate projects and workplans. Attend monthly design team meetings and act as a design resource for projects and department standards. Develop proposals and scope of work. Engage in training and professional development opportunities.
