About The Position

The Landscape Design Intern contributes to HDR’s Architecture practice, supporting projects that create spaces and experiences intended to advance community well-being. The role offers real-world experience on active projects and opportunities to connect with recent graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs.

Working under the direct supervision of an architect, project manager, or other professional, the intern participates in the architectural design process, develops alternative design solutions and presentation graphics, and follows design development drawings and models through completion. The intern collaborates with production staff on technical details and construction drawings and may perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• Commitment to actively participating in the employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• At least two years completed toward a degree and a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to the field of study or industry.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of an architect, project manager, or other professional.
• Participate in the architectural design process.
• Develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics to communicate concepts to clients or for agency approval.
• Follow through on design development drawings and models.
• Collaborate with production staff on technical details and completion of construction drawings.
• Perform other duties as needed.
