Landscape Architect/Planner/Site Designer: Do you have a minimum of eight years of working experience with landscape and site design projects? Do you have experience designing parks, understanding the community engagement process, commercial/military projects, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary design teams? Do you have a desire to integrate indigenous culture into the built environment? Do you want to work in Alaska? If so, we want to talk to you! The ideal candidate for this position is a strategic thinker, self-starter, and works well in a team environment. Responsibilities include all aspects of design, production of construction documents and project management. To be successful in this role, you will have a background working with architectural/engineering firms, the ability to work independently on multiple simultaneous projects, and excellent time management skills. This position requires proficiency in drawing both three dimensions and two dimensions to convey the design intent during concept design through construction documentation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are vitally important in maintaining efficiency in our high-functioning teams. Additionally, the position involves managing project milestones and deliverables, ensuring that all work is completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Effective coordination with cross-functional teams and external consultants is essential to ensure that design specifications and quality standards are consistently met. This role requires some previous experience in architectural or engineering firms, the ability to independently manage multiple project deliverables with strong prioritization and time management, and exceptional communication skills for effective collaboration. A proactive approach to continuous improvement and problem-solving is also essential.

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • Have a minimum of 8 years’ experience with landscape and site design projects.
  • Be an innovative thinker and thought leader.
  • Be a project manager who can work with the client and lead the A/E design team from the onset of a project through construction.
  • Be a project manager who can lead stakeholders through the design process.
  • Have the experience to maintain design integrity as a project moves from concept design through construction documentation.
  • Produce and guide the creative thought process for master planning, park design, site design and planting plan solutions.
  • Be able to communicate design intent by hand sketching early in the process and quickly converting sketches into a digital format (i.e. Photoshop/AutoCAD) to professionally convey the design intent.
  • Be proficient at producing construction documents for planting plans, court yards, building entry plazas, and drainage features.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and the desire to be part of a team.
  • A client-focused ability to communicate effectively, provide a high level of attention to detail, and handle simultaneous deadlines.
  • Guide and teach the next generation of landscape architects.
  • Strong communication skills; combined hand drawing, written and verbal.
  • The ability to maintain flexibility within a large scope of responsibilities.
  • The ability to take direction and work independently while staying highly organized.

Nice To Haves

  • Be registered as a PLA, desired.
  • Have experience with AutoCAD, Revit and the Adobe Creative Suite, desired.
