About The Position

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. Work as a team in maintaining the landscape & grounds in your zone in an effort to enhance the beauty of ACU. This is a pooled position to be hired from on an as needed basis for any of the following positions: Landscape & Grounds Tech, Groundskeeper, Landscape Gardener.

Requirements

Knowledge of hand and power tools
Skilled in all areas of water quality and fountain/pool maintenance.
Written and verbal communication skills
Must have basic safety training
Emphasize excellent customer relations and service
High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of hands-on experience with landscape, grass & interior plant materials
Or Associate degree in Horticulture
Successful candidate must be honest, trustworthy, dependable, responsible, punctual, and have a good moral character and work ethic
Must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check
Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license is a requirement of this job
Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check
Must be neat & clean in appearance at all times
Good health & stamina to lift; carry & pull loads in excess of fifty (50) pounds
Must be able to climb a ladder
Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold weather conditions
Must be a professing Christian and willing to support the Christian mission of ACU

Responsibilities

Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or the Director of Landscape & Grounds
Work as a team in maintaining the landscape & grounds in your zone in an effort to enhance the beauty of ACU
Assist other trades & grounds personnel as needed in spirit of cooperation and team work
Continue to develop & cross-train in a manner that will keep personnel up-to-date and safe
Follow established rules, policies, and procedures of the Landscape and Grounds Department and ACU
Order materials and supplies as needed for the completion of work orders
Fill out work orders and written reports daily
Display necessary work initiative to work alone or in groups
Maintain the water quality, clean and monitor the mechanical parts of the fountains in the ACU landscape to the university’s standard
Attend ACU approved, work-related training sessions
Clean and maintain equipment to extend the life of the equipment, and maintain resources of the University
Perform work in a safe manner
