About The Position
We are seeking a temporary Lands Assistant to support land access monitoring efforts this fall. This position will assist with conducting intermittent permit checks in the Larsen Bay and Karluk Portage areas. The role involves fieldwork for 2-4 days at a time, with approximately 5-6 trips scheduled during October and November.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently in remote outdoor environments.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to field sites.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with land access monitoring or permit compliance preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Monitor land access and conduct permit checks in designated areas.
- Perform field visits to Larsen Bay and Karluk Portage for 2-4 day intervals.
- Complete approximately 5-6 trips during the months of October and November.
- Document findings and report on permit compliance and land use.
- Communicate effectively with land users and stakeholders as needed.
